Elon Musk's "honorary" Tesla position has earned its owner more than $500 million since 2018.

For better or worse (especially on the negative side), since Elon Musk entered politics, his electric car company Tesla has been in the spotlight due to the direct consequences of the magnate's actions.

For some time now, several prominent figures in the company have called for Musk to step down from Tesla's management. But now it's the employees themselves who are demanding his resignation.

However, Elon Musk had already been forced to resign as chairman. This happened in 2018, after being charged with fraud by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He was replaced by Robyn Denholm, who currently holds the position.

Musk himself has said that the role of Tesla CEO is more of an "honorary" title. But that hasn't stopped Denholm from earning more than $500 million in his seven years in the position.

According to the New York Times , he achieved this fortune by selling part of his stake in the electric vehicle brand, making him the highest-paid non-executive in the US in recent years.
